Knit Basics: Your First Seamed Sweater

Would like to learn how to knit your first seamed sweater?

Then our Fornida sweater is a great place to start. It's designed for a chunky yarn so your stitches are larger and the whole pattern works up a bit more quickly so you can learn everything you need to know as fast as possible.

With this knitting pattern & workshop, we go through:

  • how to read your knitting,
  • how to count your rows,
  • how to work in the round,
  • how to fix stitches if you have a mishap along the way,
  • how to work increases and decreases for the neck and the side.

Phew, that seems like a lot, but I promise it's easier than you'd think!

As with all our beginner patterns, you can choose between starting on an adult or child sized garment or choose the Fornida project workshop, which comes with all the step-by-step videos you need to knit your Fornida seamed sweater with the bonus that the workshop comes with both patterns.

If you have a problem with seaming or how to block or finish your sweater, this is also a great place to start. To find out more about the Fornida sweater, just press play and let Carol guide you through this pattern:
