Bohus Sweater Pattern

This pattern was originally part of Laine Magazine Issue 7.

Yarn Kits this sweater in Nua can be found here.

The Bohus sweater is designed to have a loose, comfortable fit with plenty of positive ease. The colourwork yoke uses purl stitches to create a soft divide between the colourwork transitions. This sweater is knitted in the round from the bottom up in one piece. At the yoke the colourwork is worked in the round and the armhole openings are steeked once the body is complete.

Bohus Knitting was a Swedish knitting cooperative that was active between 1939 and 1969. Their innovative design elements, attention to detail and exciting use of colours, to name just a few characteristics, are still hugely influential even today. This sweater is not a Bohus pattern but it’s inspired by the work of the talented women of the Bohus Knitting cooperative.
