Knit Basics: The Basics of Picking Up a Dropped Stitch

Whether you are a new or experienced knitter it's never any fun to drop a stitch! In this video you will find tips on the best way to pick up a dropped stitch and replace it on your needle.

You will need a crochet hook in the same size or smaller than your needle size.

  • With the 'knit' or smooth side of your stitch facing up put the dropped stitch on your crochet hook.
  • Carefully pick up the strands, one at a time, of each row that it dropped down and lift the stitch over the strand using the crochet hook.
  • When you have picked up all of your dropped rows replace the stitch on the left needle with the right 'leg' on the front.
